The Self-Transcendence 6 & 10 Day Races 2014 sold out this year by the middle of March. The annual events which kick off with the 10 Day on April 19th are two of the most international multiday races on the calendar and this years field features Ashprihanal Aalto from Finland as one of the main contenders with Wei-Ming Lo from Taiwan having run 720 km in Athens in 2010. From Australia Doug Kewley will be taking part in three 6 day races in 6 weeks with his final race being in Hungary in May.
The ladies race see Slovakian Champion Kaneenika Janakova return with Argentinian Gabriela Cotugno who won the French Ultra Festival in 2013 with 628 km.
Dipali Cunningham returns to Flushing Meadow for the 17th 6 Day race after winning all previous 16 races, an unmatched career, while Vikena Yutz lines up in the ladies race for the first time.
In the mens 6 Day Ireland’s Eoin Keith will surely set a good pace as he has a 24 hour pb of 244 km and steps up to the 6 day for the first time along with Canadian George Biondic who ran 398 km at Across The Years in 2013, a familiar face at the Self-Transcendence 24 hour race in Ottawa.

The Self-Transcendences race are organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team to offer opportunities to challenge oneself in an environment designed to enable runners to perform at their best. Founded by Sri Chinmoy in 1977, the SCMT has been hosting multiday races in New York since the first 24 hour race which took place in 1980 in Greenwich, CT and continues to day with its flagship event, the worlds longest annual race, the Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race which has taken place every year since 1997 in Jamaica, Queens. The SCMT holds races in many countries around the world from weekly 2 mile events to marathons and ultras as well as triathlons, biathlons and duathlons.
