logo_miikilAbout the race
The 1000 km of France 2008 aka the MiL’KiL was presented last year as a one-off race. However, good feedback from riders, leaders and many who have followed on YaNoo.net, could only make people want to get more. Since Transe Gaule and its volunteers decided to take a sabbatical in 2009, the opportunity was too good to miss and the event was proposed in the same simple pattern and the same pathways as those of the first edition: a non-crossing stop of France on foot, from the Channel to the Mediterranean, a distance of about 1000 km between St Malo and Sète.

At the same time, many runners who have expressed a desire to support the Taiwanese runner Chiu Shu Jung Lu after her serious infection which cost her her right leg at the end of Transe Gaule 2008, the idea of supplementing the MiL’KiL was born, a Mini MiL’KiL – a test more accessible but still a 200 km ultramarathon between Rodez and Sète, a particularly interesting section – landscapes and bucolic Aveyron also nice and hilly and without mercy. ..

For each entry to one or other of these two tests, 200 € will be donated to the account “SOLIDARITE LU CHIU”.

A few hours after the end of the 18th and final stage of the 2008 Trans-Gaule, at Gruissan Beach, runner Taiwanese LU CHIU Shu Jung was hospitalized in Narbonne in the wake of sharp pains in both feet. Twelve hours later she was transferred urgently to the CHU of Montpellier, the victim of a fast-acting bacterial infection that caused , (gangrenous fasciitis). During two successive operations, Shu Jung Lu Chiu lost her right leg and toes of the left foot.

Chiu Shu Jung Lu, aged 51, was an experienced athlete, a member of the Taiwan national 24 hour team. She was ranked 40th in the 2007 Spartathlon and 8th in the 2008 Loutrak 7 day race (Greece) last spring.
