TRANSVULCANIA 2012 Results

The TRANSVULCANIA 2012 results are being posted online.

American Dakota Jones has won the 2012 TRANSVULCANIA an 83 km ultra in La Palma in the Canary Islands. Jones set a new course record eclipsing last years time by Spain’s Miguel Heras of 7:32:13 with a new time of 6:59:07.
New Zealand’s Anna Frost won the ladies race in 8:11:30 – some 40 minutes ahead of Nuria Picas and almost an hour ahead of Nikki Kimball .

Dakota Jones’s victory came as a surprise to some as the field was deep with quality international competion including Killian Jornet and pre-race favourite Britains Andy Symonds. 500 runners began the event at 6 am which features over 8,000 m of ascent and is part of the of the Sky Runner World Series.
