New York Ultra Running Newsletter – December 2010

Greetings to all.

Most of our member organizations are kind of winding down their ultra event schedules as winter approaches. Our NYUR Grand Prix events are over for this year (see 2010 Final NYUR Grand Prix Standings
Newyorkultrarunning.org congratulations to all winners and participants), and we are in the process of planning for the 2011 edition, so stay tuned to the NYUR web site for the latest news.

If any race organizers out there would like to add your event to the next Grand Prix, or if you’d just like us to highlight your ultra event on the NYUR web site , please email us via our NYUR Web Administrator (that’s me).

At least two great events have already been scheduled. The Caumsett Park 50K (scheduled for March 6th) and the Sybil Ludington 50K (scheduled for April 16th). They haven’t posted details/applications yet, but we’ll get them on the NYUR web site as soon as they’re available.

If you can’t wait until March and want to try something to kick off the new year, one of the NYUR “frequent flyers”, Grant McKeown, is again organizing a low key trail run right here in the Bronx, the 2nd annual New Year’s Van Cortlandt Park Fat Ass Run on January 2nd. There are also several “Winter” trail ultras (and shorter)
scheduled as part of the NJ Trail Series. The next ultra event in the series is the Watchung Winter 50K on January 8th (this site also has links to the other races in the series).

Happy Holidays to all. Be careful of those ice patches on your winter (brrr) runs and we’ll see you at some race soon.
