Route 66 is a great adventure and I’m doing it with 2 handlers who are nice friends of the children, to start with then Aisling ( my daughter) and her boyfriend are coming out to help and as she is training for physio I should get a few massages!
I’m doing it also to help raise awareness of psoriasis which is a tiresome skin disease which I see at my work every day and the Psoriasis Association are helping spread the word to the public.
I hope to cover 35-40 miles a day. I discovered that about 400 miles are interstate with no alternative route. I did contact Illinois state police but they kindly told me that it is strictly motorway-like and so no pedestrians. I will be driven these miles but make them up either the beginning of the day or at the end by making a measured mile loop and getting on with what I missed! I never like to cheat on any distance. No point.
I’m really excited and the flights are booked so it’s all go.
I was wondering if any +/- fellow runner + handlers would like to do it also or part of it. Here’s hoping!
