Results from the Russian 24 Hour track Championship, XV “Sutki Begom”in May are available as a download

The webmaster kindly posted a link in English. First lady was Evgenia Kulikova with 205 km (127 miles) and first man
was Oleg Yakovlev with 237 km (147 miles).

Guy Drew at UltraDistance mentions a new race in November, the Coaldust 12/24 hour in Witbank, South Africa.

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Teamin Germany had to change their plans for a 24 hour in Berlin this year and “hope to
hold it next year” said the RD.

This w/e in Greendale, Wisconsin, Badgerland Striders are hosting a race as are the good folk of Bernau in Germany

Last weeks 24 hour in France was won by Christophe Baron with 108 miles and the results are available as an Excel download at Les 24h du Plan D’eau

The Goldcoast 48/24 hour event in Australia has just finished and the results have been posted.

In the 24 hour race David Waugh took first place with 214 km (133 miles) and the ladies event was won by Tina Fiegel
with105.470 km (65.53 miles)

The Viborg 24 hour race in Denmark, which escaped the calendar, took place yesterday. Race was won by Mikkel Gormsen with 188.43 km.

The 2006 Wakefield 24 hour Run around the Lake results are available . The race took place July 28-29.

The Ultracentric will take place on November 17th -19th with runs of 48/24/13/6 Hours.

Named The National 24 Hour Championship of 2006, the race will take place at Meadowmere Park, Grapevine, Texas USA.

USATF certified 2.4 Mile course, closed to traffic

Racewalker division offered, Centurion offered.

The ladies did well in Minnesota this year with Carolyn Smith a good 9 miles clear of first placed man Jurt Decker. 6 ladies completed 100 miles+ and a total 22 runners over the century mark and 86 runners altogether.

This weekend is the 24 hours of Boulder race. A solo/duo/relay event on trails at the Boulder Reservoir with great views of the snow covered peaks. The course is a 7.14 mile loop.

The weekend news roundup

Cornbelt 24 hour race prelimnary results are posted on the
Multiday Running blog

The East Hull harriers 24 hour race took place this weekend in the UK. Results will be available shortly.

The first Danish 24 hour took place on 6/7th of May under the capable guidance of Kim Rasmussen.

Results and photos of the event which also included a 6 and 12 hour event are available on his website www.ultramarathon.dk

The weekend before last saw the inaugural Cosumnes River College 24-Hour Track Run organised by Nprman Klein in CA.The race was won by Charles Blakeney.

Last weekend the Swiss National 24 Hour championships took place hosted by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, in cooperation with the SLV (Swiss Athletic Club). The race was won by Christian Fatton with 242 km and first lady was Rosario Munoz-Olivares from Madrid. First Swiss lady was Dorothea Vogelli with 172 km.

The 24-Hour Adventure Trail Run (ATR) results are also available. Race winner was Keith Straw (104 Miles) and 1st Place Female was Liz Walker with 96 Miles.

Cosumnes River College 24 results are posted on the blog and the Adventure Trail 24 should be available in
the next day or two. Scott Crabb, RD said there were 27 solo runners amongst the relay runners.

I will update the site next week after the 6 & 10 day races are over.

Results of the Virginia 24 hour Cancer run are posted on the blog with kind help from Wiiliam Allen who also wrote an account of his experience at the race and posted it on the Runners World Forum

This weekend there are three 24 hour races in the US. Nathaniel’s Run/24-Hour Ultra Overland Park, KS, Cosumnes River College 24 hour Sacramento, CA Call 1 916-859-0821 and the 24-Hour Adventure Trail Run in Triangle, VA. Check the 24 hour race calendar for links.

Also there may be a new 24 hour race in Berlin in the Fall to replace the Bobingen event. Details later in the Spring.

The 24-hour Adventure Trail Run has been moved up a week and now takes place on April 22.

The results for the Dutch National championshipswhich was won by Madupran Wolfgang Scwerk and held on the 1-2 April, are available on http://www.ultraloopstein.nl/

Also, the Loutraki
24 hour
results are up. The race was won by the Brazilian, Valmir Nunnes with 212 km and as far as I can tell, the first
lady was Claudia Illetschko.

Some sad news. Ongkar Tony Smith, the race director of the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 24 hour race, currently held at the Tooting Bec stadium in London, has passed away. Ongkar was a good friend, an inspiration and a most vauable asset to the ultra community in the UK. My thoughts and wishes are with his wife and two daughters.

Mens winner was Ryoichi Sekiya JPN 272,936 km and ladies winner was also from Japan, Sumie Inagaki with 237,144 km

Next week is the World 24 hour Championships in Taiwan. This is a big event for the IAU and are providing lots of info
on the site. And whilst we’re there, the IAU 24H World Challenge 2007 will take place in Drummondville, Québec, Canada on July 28th – 29th.

Across The Years hosted three 24 events, two 48 hour races and the 72 hour event. Checkout the results on
the site to get an idea of the broad range of abilities present. Splits will be posted soon.

This race is for everybody, from 11 year old Cayla who covered 100k to 75 year old Charles Rice and to Yiannis Kouros, arguably the worlds greatest ultrarunner. 112 runners took part in the 6 races and I will post an account of my experience in a few days.

Also, I’ve just received the application form for the East Hull 24 hour in the UK which will take place on the 6th and
7th of May 2006. RD, Dave Annandale, says the closing date will be when a maximum of 60 runners is reached and he is sending out 84 forms to people already waiting so do not delay
if you want run this race.

San Diego and Olander End

The San Diego One Day Race will not be held next year at the time of writing. RD John Metz will not be organising the race in 2006.

On a similar note, Olander 24 hour/100k will no longer be held. This years race was the last.

I came across a personal race account by Gary Giffin of this year’s Olander 100k race, not connected with the demise of the race but of interest nonetheless called Live and Learn .

Another new 24 hour race is in the planning stage
for North Carolina in 2006 and this one will be a trail loop
around Hinson Lake. The details have yet to be finalised but
it will be part of the North
Carolina Ultra Series.

Also as mentioned on the front page, Yiannis Kouros, who’s
very close to winning the Australian Cliff Young 6 Day race,
began the event with 158 miles for the first 24 hours.

Just noticed this on the IAU site:

New rule for listing the final results in 24H IAU competitions
(Jan Vddriessche, 22 Sep) In their meeting in Winschoten (september
9th) the Executive Council of the IAU agreed that the basic
standards for being listed in the results of a 24H IAU Competitions,
if an athlete e.g. has retired before the end, should be at
least 150km for men and 125km for women.

Also the current world Champions are Anatoly Kruglikov and
Lyudmila Kalinina both from Russia who won the 24-Hour World
Challenge in Worschach, Austria July 16-17, 2005
