Spartathlon 2010 Results – Ivan Cudin and Emily Gelder Win

This weekend the legendary Spartathlon is took place in Greece with a record 325 runners from 32 different coutries taking part. Spartathlon is a 246 kilometre (152.85 miles) ultramarathon race, first held in Greece in 1983, traces the route Pheidippides took, whom the Athenian generals sent to Sparta to seek reinforcements according to legend.
Italian Ivan Cudin assumed the lead before halfway and British runners Emily Gelder also took the lead from Heather Foundling-Hawker in the middle section of the race.
First American runner this year was Kathy Youngren, 5th woman and 44th overall finishing in 33:35:06.
