Sharon Gayter has set two new 7 day treadmill world records since she began running on Wednesday 14 December: 11.00am at the Olympia Building, Victoria Road in Teesside University where she works. Running 832.57 km in the 7 day period Sharon set a new womens record surpassing Mimi Anderson’s previous record of 650 km and running way beyond the mens record set by Lee Chamberlain in 2009 when he ran 753.24 km (468.04 miles).
The record attempt was planned to help to raise money and awareness for two charities – Leukemia and Lymphoma Research and Zoe’s Place, a hospice for babies in Middlesbrough.
