Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race Day 1

Cool start

The race got underway a little after 6 am this morning. Before the runners got going, Sri Chinmoy the founder of the race offered a blessing. I didn’t get to see too much for the first few hours because I was running in a Fathers Day Marathon on a course adjacent to the 3100 mile runners. The afternoon quickly became hot and humid, the fact that a few of the runners mentioned this to me means they were feeling it.

However it is the first day and everyone looked pretty strong. The evening will be cooler which should allow them to run a little better and hopefully sleep well at the end of the day.
