If you are interested in supporting some of your fellow ultra runners in a good cause;
TOUGH RACE, GOOD CAUSE, YOU CAN HELP.
On January 23, 2010, a team of US runners, including two members of the New York ultra-running community, Ken Posner and Tony Portera, will tackle the Brazil 135. Part of the Badwater International Cup, this is a tough race: 135 miles through the mountains of Brazil, in tropical conditions, with cumulative gain in excess of 30,000 ft. The team’s goal is not only to finish within 48 hours, but also to give something back to the local community. Specifically, we are trying to fund construction of a gym at a mission that serves low-income children outside Sao Paulo. The gym would provide a place to play and learn, and importantly keep the kids off the street, where drugs, violence, and prostitution are serious threats.
Help us raise $150,000 to build this gym and learn more about the race and project at our website www.brazil135teamusa.com or email [email protected]

If anyone has suggestions or comments on how we can improve the Grand Prix Ultra, please feel free to share your thoughts with us.

Good running and healthy miles

Larry
