Multidays News Round Up – November 20th 2010

Jackson Williams from Norwich in the UK is planning running the 2,471 miles from Perth to Sydney in the summer of 2010, barefoot.
Williams ran across America in 2007 and earlier this year ran for 24 hours on a treadmill. He is preparing himself by training with Vibram Five Fingers shoes, a new type of shoe that protects the skin but does not interfere with the natural biomechanics of the feet. Hoyerswerdaer 24 Cancelled

Notice from The Lauftreff Lausitz registered Association.

It must unfortunately communicate all Ultraläufern that for personnel and financial reasons, the 3rd Hoyerswerdaer 24 hourly run cannot take place 2010. The executive committee and its supporters regret this decision and ask your understanding. Reviving of the run is not impossible and is timely announced. With the best desires for your sporting goals 2010, the organizers of the Lauftreff Lausitz registered association.


The Run Across Georgia 2010
Run Across Georgia {RAG} will begin April 24, 2010 and is currently designed to be a 250+ mile, multi-day unsupported running journey beginning in Eufaula, Alabama at the Georgia state line and completing on the pristine, sandy beaches of Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Charles Daniels, 70 Hikes The CDT

Colombia resident Charles “Mr. D” Daniels 70,  hiked the 3,100-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail this year, traversing desert and mountains between New Mexico and the Canadian border.

When Daniels reached the trail’s northern terminus in Glacier National Park, Mont., in September, he had become one of only 106 people to be inducted into the ” Triple Crown Club,” a group of hikers who have also completed the Appalachian and Pacific Crest trails – nearly 8,000 miles of hiking.

Endeavour 500km Summer Team Challenge
The 500 Summer Challenge is a fundraising event for Endeavour Foundation, and is on this year from 20th to 22nd November.

Approximately 400 runners gather at 4.30am on a Friday morning to start a 500 kilometre running relay that starts in Beenleigh and goes to Fernvale and will take three days to complete.

Canadian Man Set To Run 250 Marathons
Martin Parnell, an ultra-marathon runner from Cochrane, Canada, plans  to run 250 marathons and raise $250,000 for a charity in 2010. Parnell said that he was inspired by Dean Karnazes who ran 50 marathons in 50 days across 50 U.S. states, and Larry Macon, a sixty-four year old lawyer from San Antonio, who set the current Guinness World record for running 105 marathons in 2008.

Ultracentric

Last years Ultracentric race  had more than its fair share of issues and controversies and changes to the course and the website hopefully will set the tone for a smooth and successful edition of this annual fixture on the ultrarunning calendar. This years event includes a 24, 48 &  72hour races from 18-22 November.
