The world of Trail Running has lost one of its most ardent and loyal ambassadors, during the Championships of France 24 hours which took place in Albi.
Christophe Rochotte, 53, a member ‘historical’ essays of VO2 Run and Trails Endurance Mag has died of cardiopulmonary arrest, while he was covering the France 24 hours for the website VO2.fr.
Christophe was a journalist with VO2 since late 2002. More than a job, Christophe had discovered a vocation, for one who loved nothing more than to travel through the five continents, hating inactivity.
Originally from Epinal, Christophe had first discovered the world’s most famous running events in the world. A talented athlete (about 2:25 marathon, 7:30 100km), he notably ran Spartathlon, Comrades, the 10-day New York, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Paris-Gao-Dakar, the Nove Colli, the Tasmania Run 1994 (615 km in 7 stages in full southern winter) where he rubbed shoulders with some of the best riders of the time.
After this tour of the ultra world, he continued putting his experience and infinite knowledge of running – including the Ultra – serving both magazines. He was also the co-founder of the TransGaule, and worked with dedication and professionalism to the development of the game “France Against the World” at the last edition of the Templars Festival. This year, thanks to his contacts, he managed to convince the Japanese Federation and South Africa to send a national team.
VO2 newsrooms and Trails Endurance Mag associate with the pain of his family and offer them their condolences.
Christophe’s funeral will be held Friday, June 12 at Saint Nicolas de Beaune at 10:30, and 12:30 at Crematorium Dijon Mirande.
