The Cape Wrath Ultra 2018 with almost 200 runners set off on Sunday (May 20) at 10am from Fort William in the Scottish Highlands for the north west corner of Scotland, Cape Wrath. The 8 day 400 km race features 11,200m of ascent and passes through some of the wildest areas of the Scottish Highlands.
Today is Day 3 of the Cape Wrath Ultra – Kinloch Hourn to Achnashellach.
Overall leaders are Carol Morgan and Robert Barnes. Todays 68 km stage is thought by some to be the hardest starting from the edge of Knoydart, passing through Kintail and reaching the wide straths of Wester Ross.
Currently leading todays stage is Jamie Ramsay who was in third place overall at the end of day two and he has 8 km or so to go before reaching the end of the stage. In second place today is Robert Barnes with Jim Masters and Paul Ainsworth currently together in third place.
Carol Morgan is in 6th place in todays stage. Sarah White is second place today and Simone Durry is in third place. Third placed woman overall is Karoline Hanks (RSA).
