The Badwater 135 is underway in Death Valley, CA. Race coverage is pretty good via the website with tweets and videos plus checkpoint splits. In the last half an hour or so Oswaldo Lopez has overtaken Ryoichi Sekiya from Japan who had led Lopez by almost an hour at Panamint Springs.
Leading lady at this point is Sumie Inagaki who has an hour and a half on Jennifer Vogel.
UK athletes Mimi Andersen and Emily Gelder are doing well in the brutal heat.
