The 7th Athens International Ultramarathon Festival 2012 took place between March 19 and April 4 at the former Ellinikon International Airport. Weather conditions were dry from the start for the small fields in the 1000 races. Only one finisher – the Greek multiday specialist Nikitas Nomikos made it within the 16 day time limit.

The 6 day race was won by a strong Trond Sjavic ahead of a workmanlike performance by Nikos thanos and womens winner Susan Brocklebank in third place overall and making her 6 day debut with over 600 km.

Konstantinos Anagnostou established an early lead in the 72 hour race and never looked back.

Denis Konovalov travelled all the way from Siberia not speaking a word of Greek or English and despite his missing the start by half an hour due to a misunderstanding nevertheless put in an excellent performance to win the 48 hour race.

The 24 hour race was dominated by Fins Petri Perttil and womens winner Tuula Ahlholm with second lady Maria Tahkavuori finishing 7th overall.
