6633 Ultra 2013

dempster highway Northwest Territories6633 ultra is an annual event over a distance of either 120 miles or 350 miles along the Dempster highway – and includes a 120 mile section of Tuktoyaktuk Winter Road constructed on the frozen Mackenzie River. A field limited to 35 competitors will race non stop on foot and be predominately self sufficient for the entire time.

The race starts on the 22nd March from Eagle Plain on the Dempster highway.

The latter sections of the race have been described as extremely tough with cold conditions, relentless winds, flat landscapes and very few other living beings. In 2011 Welsh ultrarunner Lowri Morgan was the only person to finish the race of the 6 starters in the 350 mile category.
