Western States Endurance Run

This weekend sees the 36th ecdition of the Western States Endurance Run. The 100 mile race takes place along the Western States Trail and begins at Squaw Valley, California, and ending in Auburn, California. Course record holder Scott Jurek returns after a few years off from the race having won the race 7 years in a row from 1999 to 2005 setting the course record in 2004 finishing in 15:36:27. Scott won the following races over the last few years demonstrating his world class ultrarunning ability on a competitive international stage.

2005 – 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon
2006 – 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon
2006 – 152-mile Spartathlon
2007 – 152-mile Spartathlon
2007 – Hardrock
2008 – 152-mile Spartathlon

Western States was cancelled in 2008 due to forest fires. The 2007 winner Hal Koerner will be present as will UK 100 km runner, Jez Bragg. Multiday runner Julie Aistars will be running as will Connie Gardner and second place finisher in 2007, Beverly Anderson-Abbs.
