Running America is still moving across the U.S. at about 2.4mph. Marshall Ulrich has recently completed about 1800 miles with 1200 or so miles to go.
The record attempt seems to be out of reach now with 80 miles per day needed for the remainder. Charlie Engle moved from running shoes to the bike saddle after injuries cut his run short. Watching these two elite athletes complete just about 10 miles per day less than the record pace really makes me amazed at Frank Giannino’s 1980 record run. Many great stories via blog entries at:

Phil Rosenstein has ran close to 2000 miles with 1200 miles or so to go. He has been sending some great updates and photos to those on his mailing list. I am a bit behind in following his online progress from Santa Monica, CA to Atlantic City, NJ. Phil is pushing a jogger with his gear and running solo
so his adventure is the one I can most identify with. Follow along:

Finishing about the same time as Marshall will be Rick Hammersley and Rick Walks America. He’s been on the road for 198+ days and has done great raising money for Cancer awareness. I met Rick just before he headed out and have enjoyed following his progress across America. Check out Rick’s site at: http://www.rickwalksamerica.com/

Nick Moffatt is on day 120 of his walk and still going strong:

Kind of scattered but interesting nonetheless. Not sure if he is currently attempting his 300 marathons in 100 days. I received an email back in June and am just getting around to checking out his adventures.

Richard Singer is going to set out on 2/20/2009 in attempt at the 46 day record. He plans on going from LA to NY. He’s been doing training runs and sending out email updates. You can find out more info at:

Bruce Johnson announces his next run will begin 1/15/2010, going East to West: http://www.unitedstatesrun.com/

Brian Curro looks like he’ll still be doing a run across America in the future. He recently completed a horizontal crossing of Florida and is looking forward to a vertical crossing:
