Many eyes are on the Swedish 48 hour race, part of the Skövde Ultrafestival, as Yiannis Kouros runs again. After leading for much of the first half of the race, his pace has slowed a little and at the time of writing, 21:44:55 race time, is in second place behind Lars Christoffersen. Lars has 196 km to Yiannis’s 192.8 km. In third place is Jan Erik Ramström on 172 km. UK runner William Sichel from Orkney is running well and is in 6th place. Unusually there are no women competitors in the 48 hour division.
In third place overall in the 24 hour race is Pernilla Johansson with 190 km and two hours to go. Second placed woman is Helen Sandberg with 152 km and in third place is Britt Sulonen with 91.6 km.
The mens race is led by Johan Dahl who has just reached 200 km. Second place is Hasse Byrén with 192 km and third, fourth overall, is Johan Steene with 184 km.
Just started is the one hour race and yet to start are the 6 hour, 12 hour and 100 km races scheduled for later today.
