The Self-Transcendence 10 day race got underway at noon today withh 44 starters in Flushing Meadow Park, New York. Temperatures in the mid to upper 50’s but with a little rain. The rain is expected to clear and remain dry until Tuesday next week which will give the 6 day ultrarunners a more comfortable start.
Sahisnu Szcziul said that Wolfgang Schwerk made a solid start in the first few hours as did Kaneenika Janakova.
There is a stong Russian element to this years race which is one of the hallmarks of these events – the international melting pot which New York is also so closely associated with.
