24 heures de Montigny en Gohelle
Last weekend saw the French 24 hour National Championships at Montigny, some 60 miles south-west of Calais. Out of the 78 starters, 42 runners completed 100 miles or more- a great standard. The first 19 runners all topped 200km with the top 5 runners completing 140 miles plus.
Race winner was Claude Hardel, reinforcing his claim as one of Frances top ultrarunners finishing with 253 km (157 miles) ahead of Patrice Bruneteau (249 km) and David Didier (241 km).
First lady was Karine Herry with 222 km, second was Christine Bodet with 205 km and third was Martine Bertin with 203 km. Seventeen women runners all told.
