May 27 Patrick Malandain finally won his bet by crossing his 10,000th kilometer in 99:4:12 minutes. It improves by 28 days and 6 hours the previous record known at this distance set last year by Australian Dave Alley.
The Normandy runner who resides in Montivillers began his journey 100 days ago on Feb 18th ended his epic journey in Deauville, the 100th day of racing and his 14 week journey visited all departments of mainland France completing a total of 10,040 kilometers before hanging up his shoes.
Of these 100 days, accumulating 1500 hours of racing, he has raced 93 days with more than 100 kilometers and a record day at 107.5 km for a final average of 101 km/day. A true sporting feat achieved in a pure amateur spirit, losing 12 kgs of bodyweight on the way.

Great achievement. One comment- He was not racing if there was no competition. A journey run is a solo run, however the format. If other people are running against him, it is a competition, ergo a race. There is a big distinction. Races are monitored, especially by the athletes themselves.
Solo ventures are what they areā¦.
