The Ultra Trail Mont Blanc 2012 began Friday night at 18:30 in Chamonix – a 103 km km race with 6860 m of positive altitude change. This was an alternate course which was changed and shortened due to severe weather conditions above 2000 m.
Frenchman Francois D’Haene won the race with a comfortable lead over Swede Jonas Buud and American Michael Foote improved on his last position to take third spot.
British runner Lizzy Hawker won the ladies race for the 5th time with a 45 minute lead over Italian Francesca Canepa and third was Emma Roca from Spain.
There were 1929 finishers.
