Breaking news: Thoms And Hawker Win 2012 Spartathlon
The 30th Spartathlon began yesterday morning 7 am local time and the first five runners are home as I write according to the race website.
The race was won by German Stu Thoms in 26:28:19 after winning the Self-Transcendence 24 hour race in Berlin in July with 230 km.
Third place overall and first woman was the UK’s Lizzy Hawker setting a new course record by over half an hour. This is the first time a woman has made it to the podium at Spartathlon.
