I am very sorry to say that yesterday morning Sri Chinmoy passed away at his home in Queens, New York. He was 76.
An ocean of energy and affection, Sri Chinmoy has been my inspiration for many years and through his encouragement I was able to participate in his vision of a world that takes care of all the people who live here and contribute to the aspiration of humanity.
Through his love of running which led to the formation of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, he has demonstrated that we have more capacity than we think we have and through the races hosted by the SCMT has provided an opportunity for people to realise that truth for themselves.
Yours sincerely,
Abichal Watkins

Professor Watkins writes so eloquently that Sri Chinmoy was “an ocean of energy and affection,” and he certainly was that, but his positive energy manifested itself in so many different ways.
Like the eye of a hurricane, he struck your heart and imagination.
He encouraged you to be the best “you” possible.
He helped make dreams come true.
… and in addition to everything else, he was a heck of a good runner, and an enthusiastic fan and supporter of so many running events.
I will certainly dedicate some miles and races to him in the coming months and years.
With sincere symphathy,
Mark Dorion
