A Threshold
I have been lucky enough to observe all 10 previous editions of the 3100 mile race. One thing I have noticed is that when we reach the 3 week stage of the race something changes in the physiology of the runners. It is like they have used up most of the fat reserves in their bodies and they become more streamlined. Of course this also means that they need to consume more to keep themselves going. You begin to see their eating habits change and they somehow become acutely aware of what they need. They also have to be careful because there is now a fine balance between staying healthy and becoming fatigued.
Chanakhya, Thanks for the great daily updates. Can you report more on what the runners are eating and drinking? How often? Thanks, Don
