Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race 2017 – Daily Updates – Day 37

Daily Diary
Monday 24th July – Day 37

Kasper, one of young helpers, who normally helps with the end of the day packing up, was down for the “security” duty and has come down with the “lurgie” so I will stand in for him and sleep in the RV.
I have not been at the packing away at midnight, and now it seems so effortless to put the things away. There is always a strange excitement during the last hour as some relax and some push on to meet or exceed targets.
Yolanda does 113 laps with 8 mins to spare, while Vasu finishes with only 2 seconds to spare.
Awake in RV at 5am to the sound of heavy rain.
It rains most of the morning and quite heavy and windy at times. Fairs up and remains cool the rest of the day, another shower in the evening and remains cool, dropping to 17c.
Although generally good running conditions laps were not spectacular, but sometimes with rain comes the need to keep changing clothes and a worry what the wet is doing to ones feet.
Kaneenika continues to ooze real quality of purpose and leads the days laps with 117, closing a little on Nirbhasa for second place, now just 18 mile behind. Harita and Yolanda both hit their targets of of 111 and 113. Andrey pulls a little ahead of Sergey, but with a cool cloudy day forecast it will suit Sergey to come back.
My big treat for being “night watchman” and on duty during the heavy morning rain is an afternoon sleep of 4 hours, warm shower and free dry clothes.
Then back to the feeding/drinks and food table and some lap recording.
No ice cream today !!!, but someone brought Scottish shortbread !!
