News from JB Jaouen in France:
In what will be the one of the longest solo projects taking place this year, French ultrarunner Patrick Malandain, 55, starts a new challenge on February 18: running 100 kilometers a day for a 100 consecutive days.
The event will start in the city of Le Havre next week and should finish at the same place on May 27 after running 10,000 kilometers around France.
No stranger to long distance solo runs, in 2013 Patrick ran across Australia from Sydney to Perth, a 3861 kilometers trip which took 38 days 12 hours 58 minutes.
In 2011, he finished in 2nd place in the Los Angeles-New York Footrace.
He also participated in “Les 1.000 Kilomètres de France”, a non-stop 1000 km race across France, in 2012 and 2014, winning in his second running of the race in 8 days 04 hours 13 minutes.
During his solo run, he will be crewed by his wife and a couple of friends.
