Subject: First Six Days Italian Race
From 30th June to 6th July 2012 there will be held the first edition of the Pantano 6 Day Race (6 Giorni del Pantano)and 24/48/72 Hour races.
This will be the first 6 day race in Italy. It will take place along a ring of 6 km, completely closed to the traffic, illuminated in the evening ( with discrete markers ) and around ‘WWF Oasis of Pantano Lake’ in Pignola, not far from Potenza (the capital town) – about 8 km.
It will be a festival of Ultrarunning living freely in the sporting heart of the oasis, which, with its playground, a small amphitheater, a bar as well as large spaces, will cuddle sponsors, athletes and team-managers during the event.
The race is organized by Pasquale Brandi, a runner from Potenza with a high expertise in the needs of extreme runners, and by the free collaboration of the ITALIAN LEAGUE AGAINST CYSTIC FIBROSIS, to which will be allocated the proceeds of the event.
The initial idea is to transform the HAMSTER (in this way are known the runners of the road, because of the poor measure of athletic tracks hosting these events ….) in TOURIST-RUNNERS who will discover in six days how the nature can marry the rough asphalt.
The setting of the WWF Lake of Pantano is perfect for this purpose and it is easy to reach, with a diverse variety of hospitality and entertainment for participants and visitors.
The full moon will be the icing on the cake which will brighten the long nights of racing, giving the lake surface fairytale reflections.
