The second 6 Day race currently underway is the newly located French Ultra Festival in Luc-en-Provence. 109 runners with 12 women are taking part in this 6 day ultramarthon festival. The course is a 2,4 km motor racing circuit in Luc in the south of France.
Last years winner in the 6 day was Olivier Chaigne who covered 881 km (547 miles) and is 12 km behind race leader Christian Maudit who has a pb of 812 km also set at Antibes, the previous venue for this race in 2010. Third is Didier Sessegolo who finished fifth last year with 815 km.
Frenchwoman Mimi Chevillon has a 10 km lead over Argentinian Gabriela Cotugno.
The 6 day event incorporates 11 races for almost every ability including a Womens only 5 km race, 6/12/24/48/72 hour races plus 100/50 km/miles.
