The Bislett International Indoor Endurance Festival 2015 has just drawn to a close with Norwegian Trond Sjåvik prevailing over a tremendous performance by leading lady, Sweden’s Laila Öjefelt. A closely run race meant there was no let up for Trond and for periods of the race was forced into second place. Laila’s performance is the third best womens 48 hour of the year according to the rankings on the DUV.
Indeed the top positions remained the same for the men and ladies for most of the race. Thomas Frunzke from Germany pulled out a pb to take second place and and Scotland’s William Sichel had his best 48 hour for four years to claim third spot.
Cecilie Holmgren, in what looks like her first 48 hour, finished fifth overall. Christine Schroeder from Germany also set a personal best by some 12 km for third woman.
Three other British runners made the trip to Oslo for their first 48 hour races – husband and wife, John and Lorna Maclean from Scotland and Garfield Jones from Wales also covered respectable distances. Lorna was fourth lady and 9th overall, John was 10th and Garfield 11th – great performances for debutants.
