Arun BardwajArun Bhardwaj, running 4000 km from north to south across India on Friday reached the 1000 km point on his journey. Having descended from Tanglang la  in the Ladakh region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir – a high mountain pass at 17,480 ft, Arun should reach the outskirts of Delhi on Monday.

Today was Aruns longest day so far – 83 km and after three weeks on the road he is injury-free though he says he has occasional knee pain which comes and goes. From tomorrow he is expecting lots of local runners from the Delhi area to join him on the road and will be meeting groups and visiting schools along the way, Arun says the theme of the project is  ‘Kargil to Kanyakumari, One India’ and wants to encourage others to run.

Arun is India’s pioneering vegetarian ultrarunner having won the George Archer 6 day race in South Africa in 2010 and completed what is regarded a one of the toughest endurance races in the world  – the 2011 Badwater Ultramarathon.
