The Marathon of Britain, a 175 mile race spread over 6 days, kicked
off yesterday with Dan Afshar winning Stage One and Heidi Wilson,
first lady, in third place overall. Follow the daily news on the

Also starting yesterday was the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run
2006. A 150 mile/230 km run with 46,000 feet of ascent over 8 days.
The race starts in Oberstdorf (GER) and finishes on the 9th of September
in Latsch (I) pasiing through 4 alpine countries. 117 2-person teams
are on the start list. An English version is available at Transalpine-Run 2006

for confirmation of the finishing places.

Gayter begins her JOGLE (Lands End to John O' Groats in the
UK) attempt in 6 hours or so. We wish her the best.

Duncan has reached her journeys goal - a 1200 km solo hike along
the The Great Divide Trail to Kakwa Lake Trailhead on Aug 28! Paula

In the Transe Gaule, legendary US runner, 68 year old Texan Don
Winkley, was named "L'homme du jour" yesterday. Don is
currently in 10th place and having his best performance so farand
has run in every edition of the race since its inception. Checkout

News of a new TransEurope Footrace which will take place
in 2009. Slightly shorter in length, Ingo Schultz is planning another

Tuesday August 15, 2006 23:27 The Swiss Jura Marathon,
a 350 km, 6 day stage race, run from Geneva to Basle, took place
between July 9th and July 15th and was won by Thomas Miksch in a
total of 31:18:02 hours. The ladies division was won by Carmen Hildebrand
in 39:38:11 hours. The race had 61 finishers. The results are available

Richard Bottram is running a marathon distance everyday for a year
to raise money for cancer reasearch. Marathon365
Paula Duncan is solo-hiking 1200km of the Great Divide Trail and
is due in Jasper at this time according to Paula's
website

Martin Fryer took first place in the Goldcoast 48 with
351.716 km (218.546 miles) and Deborah de Williams was first lady
with 181.915 km (113.036 miles).
In the 24 hour race David Waugh took first place with 214 km (133
miles) and the ladies event was won by Tina Fiegel with105.470 km
(65.53 miles)

Christian McEvoy is in the midst of running across the country for
cancer patients and survivors. Currently in the Delta, UT area Christian
has raised over 100 k for charity. Checkout his site on Coasttocoastrun.org
Also on the road at this time is Serge Girard crossing Eurasia
and according to his logbook was in Joetsu, Japan on Saturday. Checkout

Rosie Swale-Pope's amazing adventure continues. Rosie is in the
Yukon at the moment and there's a bunch of recent photos on the
site which have given me and I'm sure many more people, glimpses
of a world remote, desolate and barely touched by human habitation.

John Wallace is tracking US Crossers on his site and lists 169

Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk wins the10th Self-Transcendence 3100
in New York in 41 days+08:16:29. Asprihanal Aalto takes second place
and third place went to last years winner, Srdjan Stojanovich in
44 days+13:32:04. Suprabha Beckjord finished for the 10th time maintaining
an amazing record.
Next race is the Transe Gaule, 1166K through France beginning on
August 17th and has 38 runners taking part. Part of the site has

After 2 weeks of problems things are getting back to normal,
however the 3100 blog will continue on MultidayRunning.com.
Some links and pages dont work at the moment. These will be taken
care of after the 3100 mile race has finished.
Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk has set a new record for the Self-Transcendence
3100 mile race by finishing in the phenomenal time of 41 days+08:16:29
and taking off 29 hours, seven minutes, and 34 seconds of his previous
record. Asprihanal Aalto finished second and Srdjan Stojanovich,
last years winner clinched third place in 44 days+13:32:04

Not much news at the moment. Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk
is trying to break his old record for the 3100 mile race. Asprihanal
Aalto is a 100 miles or so behind.
