David Blaikie

David Blaikie is a former president of the Association of Canadian Ultramarathoners, who is famous for having created a news website, Ultramarathon World, that was the heart of the online ultrarunning world. Unfortunately due to several computer events, David lost the files to the site. He wrote "The original site was destroyed (without explanation) by my former web provider on Dec. 20" 2001 and after having rebuilt the site once decided not to continue with the project.

  • Perhaps the genius of ultrarunning is its supreme lack of utility. It makes no sense in a world of space ships and supercomputers to run vast distances on foot. There is no money in it and no fame frequently not even the approval of peers.
