North Face Endurance Challenge Kansas City 2011

The North Face Endurance Challenge Kansas City, MO has been selected as the location for a new US road ultramarathon event in a series that includes 6 destinations across the country (NY, DC, WI, GA, CA – all trail runs and now MO – the inaugural road running event). Some of the world’s elite runners are converging in Kansas City, MO on August 27th to 28th for a two day event that has something for all abilities. Choose from one of six race distances– 5K to 50K — winding through the streets of Kansas City, starting from beautiful Frank A. Theis Park.
The two days of events and activities offer a great excuse to get friends and families outdoors! From Frank A. Theis Park runners will wind through the Plaza to Downtown, along the Missouri River and back to the Park, where a lively festival will ensue throughout each day.

Look for world-class endurance runners including the host of the Endurance Challenge, Dean Karnazes, fresh off his Run Across America. Dean will be at the start line of each distance and hand out medals at the finish; he will also lead the 1K Kids’ Race each day. Other Global Athletes from The North Face include USATF 50K champion Michael Wardian, and Ultra-Running phenomenon Diane Van Deren; both will be competing in the 50K distance on Sunday.
