Stage Races are events that cover a certain distance during a day and usually have cut-offs associated with them. For example, the most recent Trans-Am, The Run Across America 2004, was a 3100-mile race in 71 stages from Huntington Beach, California to New York, New York. Each stage finishes at a convenient point for finding food and accommodation for the night.
