Sri Chinmoy 24-Hour Festival of Running

2006 saw the 23rd Sri Chinmoy 24 Hour Festival of Running which takes place at the end of September/beginning of October at the Santos Stadium, Adelaide Australia. This race is hosted by the Australian Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. Race Director is Anubha Baird. The race is renowned for its high standards and excellent runner support. Yiannis Kouros set the current 24 hour world record of 303.506 km at the Adelaide 24 hour race in October 1997.

AURA National Championship

The Australian Ultra Running Association, (a sanctioned national body recognised internationally) determines the Sri Chinmoy 24 Hour Race as the National Championship 24 Hour Event. Both the male and female winners who are AURA members in the 24 Hour Race become the National Champion for 2006. If you are not already an AURA member we recommend you join before the Festival at the low cost of $45. This will also enable your performance to be eligible for inclusion in the AURA annual track ranking lists. It will also entitle you to the trophies supplied by AURA in addition to SCMT Awards should you place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the 24 Hour. IAU World 24 Hour Challenge

The 24 Hour Event is available as a qualifying event for the World 24 Hour Challenge. Male runners achieving more than 200 km and female runners achieving more than 180 km will be preferred for selection. The race has the official accreditation of the IAU and is an IAU labeled event. Travel grants may be available for those qualifying.
