Point to point races take place as the name suggests between two different places. For example, the Sydney to Melbourne race - an 845 km run that took place in Australia strating in 1983. Point to point races are run round the clock and the first person to cross the line is the winner. Multiday events such as the Marathon Des Sable which takes place in a desert are often of shorter duration nonetheless physically challening.
