Christine Crawford: Suggestions for a 100 mile race-The Kettle Moraine 100 (Posted on the Ultralist November 2006)

You might like the Kettle Moraine 100 held the first weekend in June in LaGrange, WI (close to Milwaukee and Madison). It's not too difficult for someone like myself who has a hard time with REALLY technical stuff. Lot's of single track, beautiful scenery in the form of changing ecosystems and landscape due to Wisconsin glaciation. Soft pine needle beds, some rocks and roots here and there, a few small climbs with spectacular views. The Ice Age trail is used for a significant portion of the run. Did you know the Ice Age trail stretches over 1,200 miles and is maintained by volunteers? Also, did I mention the friendly people...families, friends, volunteers, RD's? Plan on gaining weight at this event, you won't be able to pass on the food. I hope you consider it.
