The World Marathon Challenge is a project undertaken by Richard Donovan, an Irishman, who set a new record in February 2009 by completing 7 marathons on 7 continents in a time of 5 days 10 hours and 8 minutes.

- 31 January: Arrive in Cape Town from Antarctica at 06:00 (6 hour flight). 4,200km
- 31 January: 18:10 leave Cape Town for Dubai (9.25 hour flight) 7,620km
- 1 February: Arrive in Dubai at 05:35.
- 1 February: 16:30 Leave Dubai for London (7.45 hour flight) 5,475km
- 1 February: Arrive in London at 20:15
- 2 February: 09:00 Leave London for Toronto (8:20 hour flight) 5,730km
- 2 February: Arrive in Toronto at 12:20
- 2 February: 23:55 Leave Toronto for Santiago (10.40 hour flight) 8,585km
- 3 February: Arrive in Santiago at 12:35
- 3 February: 23:05 Leave Santiago for Sydney (18:15 hour flight) 11,365km
- 5 February: Arrive in Sydney at 07:20. Finish Australian Marathon at 14:00
