James Zarei is an Iranian born British ultrarunner who set the current British 6 day record at Gateshead in 1990. Zarei was tantalizingly one mile short of the world record set by George Littlewood, 623 miles 1,320 yards at Madison Square Garden, New York, in 1888. He has twice won the (then) 164-mile Spartathlon race. He has also won the 279-mile Hiroshima to Nagasaki Peace Run three times.
