The Trans-Gaule is the longest stage race taking place in France and was first held in 2001. The event had 15 starters and 11 finishers.
Course
- Starting at Roscoff in the North the route takes country roads through rural France passing taking in Brittany, Anjou, Limousin, Auvergne and Languedoc-Roussillon finishing in Gruissan-Plage on the Mediterranean.
- Stages vary from 49 km to 75 kmspread over 18 days and 1150 km
- The race is limited to 50 runners who have to provide their own support crew if they need one.
- Accommodation is provided.
- Breakfast for 18 days and dinner for 13 days is provided.
