Transcontinental races were usually associated with the Trans-Am races that captured the imagination of the world in the late 1920's and again in the early 1980's when Jesse Dale Riley he;ped host several cross country runs that were sponsored by a Japanese company, Moonbat.
Since then a few races have gradually taken root.
