Also Berryman 50 Mile (about the 3rd weekend in May) is just a little east of Rolla, Missouri. It is single track rolling dirt trail with some rocky sections all through the forest. It's a two loop race with a marathon option. The SLUGs put this race on. David and Victoria White are the RDs and are some of the best RDs you could ever want. It's fun to run their races and easy to work their races due to their tremendous organization. This would be a great first 50 miler, but a little later in the season than what you're looking for.
