The Worlds longest footrace began life in 1996 as the Self-Transcendence 2,700 mile race, finally bringing to fruition a long cherished dream of the founder of the Marathon Team, Sri Chinmoy. Bringing together a handful of runners to attempt to cover the distance and finding a course had at long last been made possible in the neighbourhood where Sri Chinmoy has lived for the last 30+ years.
