Trans-American footraces have been held since the 1880s and more recently, from 1992-1995 inclusively which had aroused enough interest to inspire Moonbat, a Japanese clothing company, to sponsor a series of races.
Alan Firth organised two Race Across America events, in 2002 and 2004.
