Trans-Europe 2009 – Stage 58 – Hiroko Retires

tefr091The big news is that after struggling for weeks with leg injuries and after leading the race since day 2 and now just 6 days away from the finish and still with a 20 hour lead, Hiroko Okiyama has pulled out of the Trans-Europe race.
Race director Ingo Schultze said he felt how difficult it was for her with only 500 km left, but it begins to hurt after 4,000 km he said. “It was a sensible decision”.
