The Inaugural 6633 Ultra

March www.6633ultra.com <http://www.6633ultra.com/> . .

The race, either on foot or on a bike is over 120 miles or 350 miles and commences from Eagle Plain in the Yukon, Canada and finishes at Fort McPherson NWT for the 120 miler and at Tuktoyaktuk on the banks of the Arctic Ocean for the 350 miler. The athletes will be self sufficient with drop bags for essentials at 120 miles and 220 miles. The race route follows the Dempster highway (a glorified forest track) to its culmination at Inuvik at 220 miles and then continues along an annually prepared ice road to Tuktoyaktuk.

The 6633 refers to the latitude of the Arctic Circle (66 degrees 33 minutes) through the race will pass 26 miles into the event.

With the race taking place in March, it is expected that the average temperature could well be hovering around -40 and the area is known for its extremely high winds.

Entries are being taken now via race representatives in various countries.

The race is being organised on a not for profit basis – I have raced in the Yukon a number of times and basically I am organising this race so other can enjoy the wonderful experiences I have had.

All the details (I think) are on the website – www.6633ultra.com <http://www.6633ultra.com/> but I would be happy to provide any further details you might have.

Entries in the UK and in France open 2 weeks ago and I currently have 5 British entrants and 2 French entrants. Other race reps are going live with entries now, so hopefully come the start of the inaugural race I will have approx 25 entrants.
