THE COASTAL CHALLENGE AND THE NEPAL TREK AND TRAIL RUN FORM STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

Promotional Partnership Expands Events’ Reach Into Growing Adventure Travel and Outdoor Enthusiast Markets

Trumbull, Conn. – The Coastal Challenge, the World’s Expedition RunTM, and the Nepal Trek and Trail Run, have formed a strategic alliance to help promote both events to new audiences around the globe.

Set on different sides of the world, The Coastal Challenge, now in its fourth season in Costa Rica, and the new Nepal Trek and Trail Run scheduled for November in its namesake country, have forged a partnership in order to expand on each organization’s strong networks, pursue relevant cross-promotional activities and provide participants with a broader range of options when it comes to travel with like-minded organizations. The partnership will help each event capitalize on their similarities as well as their differences.

“While our formats may differ, both events embody the spirit of adventure and speak to a growing audience that is seeking out an enriching and life affirming travel experience whether racing across Costa Rica or trekking through Nepal,” said Tim Holmstrom, race director for The Coastal Challenge.

The Coastal Challenge, which has become one of the world’s toughest long distance running competitions, is a six-day, 200+ km foot race through remote sections of Costa Rica. The Nepal Trek and Trail Run is less competitive and highlights trekking through the breathtaking Himalayan Mountains, experiencing the local culture, with one day slated for a competitive 1/2 marathon distance run.

“The Nepal Trek and Trail Run and The Coastal Challenge are exceptional events put on by people who share a commitment to the regions they travel in and event participants. This commitment drives the partnership and serves as a foundation for both teams to deliver successful, well rounded, safe events that not only respect but give back to the community,” said John Oliva, race director for the Nepal Trek and Trail Run.

Both events will work towards expanding their reach within running communities and various outdoor enthusiast groups while engaging in a series of carefully coordinated cross-promotional efforts. One initial benefit for both events is the ability to promote a reciprocal entry program. One free entry to The Coastal Challenge will be given out as a prize at this year’s Nepal Trek and Trail Run, and competitors at The Coastal Challenge 2008 will have a chance to win one free entry to the Nepal Trek and Trail Run in 2008.
