The AfricaRun – Berlin to Capetown 2011

A mammoth 13,000 km of ultrarunning ecstasy is being planned for 22 March 2011 (World Water Day) starting in Berlin and running to Rome for the first leg then flying to Cairo and running thence across Namibia to Capetown, South Africa finishing July 12.

Part of a series of “WaterRaces, called “WaterCupRun”, since Water is already nowadays one of the most rare and valuable goods for mankind”. These races will contribute to funding for water projects in Tanzania.

The logistics of such a project are going to be interesting. This once in a lifetime race is being set up as a team event with 1-4 runners per team. Maximum number of runners is 30.
